Moving/ghosting old IDE HD to a new SATA HD under WinXP

I just upgraded my old system with a new MB, SATA HD, MEM, Video, etc?
My old IDE HD is great but I would like to take advantage of the faster SATA Hard drive, therefore I would like to moved or ghost my old 80G WinXP HD to my new 350G SATA drive and use it as the main drive. The Old drive (80Gb IDE drive) I will keep out of my new system and plug it in when I need to back up some files.
Is it a simple operation to do? I just ghost the drive and swap? Do I need to repair WinXP again because I just did it with the old drive in order to but to WinXP with the new system?
