hello, I had a novell server with netware 4.11 , newly I install server on another server , I must move old nds (on netware 4.11) to new, uut I donot know, can you help me.

Here’s a 5000 foot overview of how I’ve done this in the past:

1) Backup the old server at least twice. Make sure your backups are absolutely solid before continuing.

2) Install NetWare and add the new server to the existing NDS tree.

3) Migrate the file data to the new server.

4) Move all partition replicas on old server to new server using NDS Manager.

5) Remove the old server from the tree. Unplug it and bury it.

6) Rename the new server to have the old server’s name.
If you don’t know how to perform any of these steps, you may want to seriously consider hiring a consultant to do this migration.

Don’t know if this thing is still open, but using the DSMAINT utility is cleaner:
-install new server in dummy tree
-backup old server
-run DSMAINT on old server, select option to “Backup NDS information prior to hardware upgrade”.
-save that file to a workstation
-login into new server in dummy tree, and copy file to sys:\system
-remove NDS from new server
-run DSMAINT on new server, select “Restore NDS information after hardware upgrade”.
-restore data
-after verification, dump old server.
