Moving print queues

By MustangSally ·
I have copied the configuration of a NON_NDPS print queue, a printer and a print server object from one branch of the Novell 5 tree and created the 3 objects in another branch of the Corporate tree.
The configuration of the objects are identical, however a print job will not move through the print process. The job will be accepted by the new queue but it just sits there.
I've re-checked user rights to these objects and they are identical.
Any ideas of what I've missed?

Moving print queues

If the jobs get to the queue, but no further, then it isn't a user rights issue. The problem lies with the printer objects.
I assume from what you have said, that you have checked the printer layout, and you have got the print server with a printer, which has the assigned queues?
Now, my current experience is mainly with Lexmark printers (IIRC, HP ones are easier to do).
With Lexmark printers, as well as giving the printer's internal print server a name to match the one you have created theNDS tree, and setting its context, you also need to configure the printer to service the actual server that the print queue resides on. I have forgotten this step, and got exactly the response you currently have.

Hope this helps
