Moving users from one server to another

By backtrack8083 ·
Hi
I have a list of users in the home directory on the VMware server on a debian machine and i want to move them to the home directory of a separate debian server as i want to wipe out that vm and also the debian server on which that vm is. The VMware is on a separate server and the server where i want to copy the users is a different server. So now of the users that i want to copy some of those users already exist on the server to be copied with a different user id. For e.g i have a user abc on both the servers as they serve different purpose for their respective servers. So I want the user abc which is copied to the new server has the identical userid with the user that was already existing there. Before doing a final move from the vmware server to the different debian server i want to make a copy of these users on both the servers for testing and after a day or two if all goes well i can do the final move remove everything from vmware. So kindly suggest me how should i do this as I want to do this remotely from command line and kindly suggest me what command should i use to copy and the command that will update the files owned by the users on both the servers if changes are made by the users after the copying is done and waiting for the final move.
Thanks a lot in advance
