    Moving WINS from NT to 2000 Pro

    We are moving our WINS from an NT4.0 Server to a Win2k Server and I need to know what we need to watch out for and what problems to expect. I have downloaded the articles I could find on the Microsoft Knowledge base but as we all know there are ALWAYS things NOT included in those articles.

      I moved my WINS database from a NT box to a Win2K box, and had no problems. Here is a TEchnet article with the steps:

      The only thing you need to do is if you have multiple WINS servers in different locations, and they are all push/pull replication partners, you will need to add your new server to the partner list. I think the Technet article doesn’t touch on that. But that is a post-migration step anyway.
