Locked

MS Access

By sherry ·
One of our tables/forms seems to be "spontaneously" copying records... It's only about once a week & usu. w/the same 2 records. (It's our "mail list" which consists of two tables - one used for general info on company, the other used in subform for contact info.)

The odd thing is that the record will be copied but with only a couple fields filled in (name of company & one other field).

Users are NOT (at least deliberately!) making copies.

This is aggravating bec. this particular info is used throughout the database as drop-down, etc.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Sherry

If any of your code behind the form and subform includes any kind of recordset reading then I would make sure that you avoid any use of the bookmarks features as they have known problems. (use .findfirst on a unique or primary key instead)

You might find it usefull to try a compact and repair (take a copy of the mdb first!).

Thanks for yr suggestion. However, I finally figured out what was happening: a field on a form that I thought was locked wasn't, and some users were filling it in periodically!! The field was "grayed" so I didn't think anyone would do that, but!!(Of course I locked the field & no more problems!)
