MS Access and Windows 2000

by michael.torres . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

I am having trouble opening and creating Access databases. This has occurred ever since we upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 professional. The error message received when a database is opened is as follows:
“Compile Error: Function or Interface marked as restricted, or the function uses an automation type not supported in Visual Basic.” At times I also get Active X control errors.

We did attempt to open the database on a Windows 98 system as well as a Windows 2000 system in another location, and we had no problems. Originally I thought the problem had to do with the fact that there were still Windows 98 and 95 files still on our computers. Those files were all deleted however, and the problem remains.

I am not truly an IT person, and our IT department does not know what else to do. Any ideas?

Thank you!
