ms access error

im using vb.net to connect to ms access 2003 professional edition. im unable to connect to database. my passwrd n username r correct n im selected the provider microsoft OLEDB jet 4.0.
the error ” test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. catastrophic failure”
please tel me the poossible causes for this error.
