    MS-Access Issues

    by lickity40 ·

    Greetings all!

I’ve had good luck here before with getting good solutions and I’m going to give it another shot.

Two problems I’m having; both appear when using MS-Access:

    1. When MS-Access is launched, the main menu form appears as it should, but many times it’s missing most of the objects. Usually there is only 1 button. The other option buttons are missing along with the lable to the only-displayed button. Closing Access then re-opening it will display fine. BTW, not that this is helpful but when the one button is displayed and clicked, the following error message appears. “There was an error executing this command”.

Additionally, there is one user who cannot get beyond this. (This, after upgrading to XP) Relaunching does not help. This same user, however, can log onto another station and access it fine. I can even log in from her pc as administrator and get the same thing. I uninstalled MS-Office 2000 and reinstalled it. No change.

This is happening on about 10 workstations that are running XP Prof. and W2K. The database itself is on a Netware 4.11 file server over a fast Ethernet top.

    2. There are 3 workstations, 1 is W2K and 2 XP Prof, that everytime they go to launch Access, the dialog box appears with progress bar that it is installing components necessary to use the app. In these cases, it is not asking to reinsert the CD. The application appears and it runs fine. This is an annoyance that causes an extra 20 seconds for the app to run. (btw, I uninstalled and reinstalled Office. No change)

Thank you very much in advance for your generosity.

    Best regards,

    Rick Forsythe

Well, I really don’t have an answer or fix except to install a fresh copy of XP. That was ‘the’ solution.
