MS ACCESS UPDATE QUERY

By NetMan_OVO ·
Can anyone tell me how does an UPDATE query work in MS Access.

Every time I get a warning "OPERATION MUST USE AN UPDATABLE QUERY"

The Same UPDATE Query work fine in Oracle & MySQL.

Chances are the problem is not with your query, but with the database. The times I've seen this error the database was locked. If's there's still an .ldb file when the database is closed, delete it. Might also try repairing the database.

Good luck

In the query are you trying to update one or more columns in a table or another query? This type of error message can indicate that you are trying to update columns in another query that Access considers read only.

Try re-defining your query so that the column you are updating is in a table, rather than another query.

Re-construct your query from scratch, and as Bob suggests in Answer 2 ONLY use Tables as your data source. When you run the query Microsoft will prompt you "You are about to update 'x' records".
