How can I over ride Windows, in MS-DOS to delete the history dat.files. I have accessed MS-DOS but unable to get to deltree history. Thanks, John W. Blalock

Restart your computer in MS-DOS mode, not just open a dos window. Navigate to the folder where the files are and del *.dat if thats what you want to do.

There's a "history" folder under c:\windows folder. If it's your intention to delete it, then your solution is:

- Boot in dos
- Cd \windows (This is the way to "get to" the parent folder of "history")
- Run the command "deltree history".

A WORD OF CAUTION.
C:\Windows and all sub folders are part of the entire system configuration. You should be very clear why you are doinf this. SECONDLY, navigating to the correct folder is important. CArefully verify where you are in the directory tree.
