MS-Dos Prompt properties

By colinjenkins ·
Does any one know where the MSdos prompt configuration (close on exit & start minimised) is stored?
I know it can be set in the pif file, but I need to set it on about a hundred win95 workstation using a kix script.
I have a script copied from the server to the workstations and runs locally.
all works ok, except the dos box(local script) won't close on exit.
I tried setting close on exit on the original file, but that property seems to be lost on transfer.

When you changed the properties of the file on the original file, it created a new pif, or lnk file to that file. Informing windows to close on exit. When you run the original file from that machine it looks for the newly created PIF associated with it, then uses those settings. But when you run it from a workstation it cannot find the PIF associated with it so it uses default settings. I had this problem on a shutdown BAT file. when you move the file take the PIF as well, or use a UNC address to the PIF file in a shorcut and just send the shortcut to the workstations.

Hope that helps.

Excellent, this seems to have fixed the problem...
I'll try it out on my school server tomorrow
