MS File sharing Win 95 & Win2k

By dmcginniss ·
How do you use MS file sharing beteen the two operating systems. Can Win2K professional remote access win 95 machines as win95 machines can acces each other? When I try to access a shered folder in win2K I am asked for a password, no password was set under file sharing on the win2k machine.

On the win2k system you have to create a username and password identical to the username/password that you use to log into the win95 system.
Start/programs/administrative tools/computer management and select local user and groups. create a new user. that will do the trick. when trying to connect to the win2k system and it asks for a password supply the one that goes with the specific account.

It was not easy to translate the windows 95 user name to windows 2000. We are on Banyan Vines and I has to figure out where the truncation would leave the user name. But it does work.
