MS IE 5.5 Hangs

By tina.m.miller ·
Since I upgraded to MS IE 5.5, the browser will frequently stop responding. Clicking on BACK or FORWARD doesn't work. Clicking on HYPERTEXT links doesn't work. Downloads don't initiate etc. But if I click FILE-NEW-WINDOW, then everything works fine in the new window (until that one stops responding too). What is causing this and how do I fix it? I'll give partial points to anyone who has a technical explanation (and can somehow document it) even if they don't have a solution. Thanks!

You may be expieriencing a corrupt file in the application.
Click>Start>Settings>Control Panel, click on the Add/Remove Programs Icon, when the pane opens, locate IE5 in the list and highlight, then slick the add/remove button, there will be a pop up window, select the repair the Installation.
If this does not work,go back over and restore to previous version and the reinstall the upgrade to IE5.5,sorry about the work involved, but their is no quick fix

That answer is the "party line."
