MS-Office KEY

By owens ·
Hi everyone,

I'm not sure anyone can help me with this or not. About three weeks ago I bought a new Compaq Computer it's a real nice one with no problems. However it comes with some Microsoft Office tools which I can't use because I don't have any key numbers. Only two disks came with the computer MS-works, and a .PDf file on another CD which has to do with the monitor. Although I do have my own version of Microsoft word which came with Microsoft Works Suite 2004, the key number for this will not work in my new computer for the office products. I called H P yesterday, they told me I needed a set of recovery disks. I can't believe it, they are already here in less than 24 hours. Absolutely incredible service without a doubt.

OK now I have a set of recovery disks, but nothing is wrong with my computer, there is no code number or key number on any of these discs, so it looks like I am in the same boat I was before. In other words if I reinstalled the recovery disks then tried to use some of my MS-Office tools I would still be asked to type in a code number, or key No.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm not sure the service rep. understood what I was really trying to say, there could have been a language barrier. And it's a little embarrassing to perhaps call them back when they so graciously and promptly sent these disks. If nothing else I would like everyone to know that personally I think H P offers incredibly good service.

Thanks for any thoughts,
Roger

The reason they gave you the recovery disks is because they want you to do a system recovery. if you have not formatted the computer since you got it. You can try downloading a free program called belarc advisor. This program will tell you all the devices you have installed along with serial keys for Windows and and office.

Good Luck!

The code number you refer to is the key. On many new pc's they ship MS office and give you a 30 day free trial then you need to by it. I would reccomend buying it and then you will be given a key..
