MS Office Specialist Exams

By GoJints ·
My company requires the technicians be MCPs. As I am not a technician, but the office Office expert, I've been told I need to take the MOS tests. While I have not gotten a straight answer on how far I'm required to go (specialist, expert, master), I know I have to start somewhere.

My problem is, while I can use Word, Excel and PowerPoint for all the needs of the office and our clients, I know there is a lot I don't know for the tests. I've been going through the Microsoft Study Guide, but it is tedious.

I would appreciate any insight from those who have taken any of the tests. What to expect, what is stressed (besides me), how to prepare, when I can retest if I bomb.

Your best bet is to talk to the local community college. Tehy more than likely have an MOUS program, and the program administrator can help you. Plus, you can take the classes for the applications that you are not familiar with (and the ones that you ARE familiar with, I guarantee that you will learn things that you had no idea the suite could do).

good luck on the exam. Just buy some test prep for it. Try to buy adaptive stuff so that you can figure out your weak spots and then work on those only. This will save you some time and money.

Hi there -

I took and passed the MOUS 2000 exams a few years back and went for the expert off the bat. Because I've become quite adept at being downsized, I really did it for myself. I'm looking at upping to the MOS 2003 this year - by the time I take them, I'm sure I'll be behind again!!! :-)

-- I used Exam Cram books and simulated tests. If you use the products regularly, you should be fine. My biggest problem is that I'm a lousy test taker.

Belated Gratz! (Test Prep Site / Book Q)

I have several team members who are interested in earning their MOS 2003. Not to mention a few who need to earn their MCPs. I had forgotten about ExamCram. Thanks for refreshing my memory on that one.

Anyone ever use PrepLogic? Any good? Their site looks like it's loaded with test prep stuff, but I don't want to recommend a bad site to my team.

Thanks :)
