MS Office Word 2000

I have a customer running MS Office on Windows ME with Gateway Desk Top 800mz. All works except when trying to open MS Word 2000 document, system freezes. Has to reboot.
When try to open Word itself, we get an error message with user.exe

Reinstalling MS Office did not correct it. Norton System Works found NO Problems.
Any comments will be appreciated.
