MS Outlook Message Rules

By JohnGreer ·
I'm looking for a program that will read the RWZ file and list each rule.

I'd also accept the data layout of the RWZ file so I can write my own program.

The rules wizard is clumsy and takes time (have to page thru multiple screens to see the whole rule). Multiply that by the hundreds of rules I have, and that makes it virtually impossible to view each rule, let alone debug which rule is misbehaving.

I'm looking for something like this:

I'll give 7500 points to anyone who can supply me with a working data layout, or 15000 points for a working program (pref VB).

I've read this a dozen times, and don't see how it applies. Can you shed some light on it for me, please?

There is an MS app that can be used on NT clients (message store viewer [MDBVU32.EXE] is a MAPI client application) to perform rule views. I havent tried it but it may work to provide you the info that can be shown. Mdbvu32.exe utility is available in the \Support\Utils\I386 folder of the Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Server CD-ROM

Thanks! I was hopeful in the beginning, but this only seems to work on the Exchange Server. I do not use Exchange, just plain Outlook 2003 on my PC. Sorry for not being clearer, but I must have omitted that fact when I reposted this question a few weeks ago.

ok, maybe this will work. As I understand that, from 2002, Outlook started storing rules within the datastore and not within the RWZ file. Thus you would be looking at importing the Rules into the datastore.

Thanks for trying to help and trying to understand me! We have a misunderstanding here and it's completely my fault. That's what I get for upgrading from 2000 to 2003 in the middle of my question...

I HAD 2000 which kept my rules in the RWZ file. I know 2003 now keeps them within the PST file. That aside, I want to list my rules. Since I now use 2003, I need a program, or data layout that will allow me to list the rules from within the PST.
