MSconfig safe mode boot problems

By 31_mike ·
I have a user who turned on safe boot using msconfig. When she booted into safe mode she discovered that we do not know the admin password so she is not able to log into safe mode. Because msconfig is directing XP to boot into safe mode she has not been able to go back to normal mode to turn off safeboot. Every time she boots she goes to safe mode. How can I get her PC to boot back into normal mode when msconfig is telling her PC to boot into safe mode.

For NT, 2000, or XP; you can reset the Administrator password, login in safe mode, and change msconfig boot options.

First ensure that admin password is not just a blank. Many home PCs do not have an admin password set.

For password reset programs see link below:

I recommend the "Offline NT Password and Registry Editor."
