Msgsrv32 IPF in Kernel32.dll

By jheinle ·
I am having a problem with a installation of Win 98 SE over an existing install.

At the point of setting up hardware and detecting devices I get a Illegal Operation which consists of "MSGSRV32 caused a invalid page fault in Kernel32.dll at 0617:bff7d39e". This is a fairly new machine being a PIII 500 with 128Mb and ATI All in Wonder Pro video. Formatting is a last resort.

If you need anymore info just ask and I will gladly post it to you.

Thanks

Try to delete windows first.
remove all files in C exept system files.
or run windows setup from windows
if the problem presist try to download
msgsrv32.dll from www.winfiles.com place it
in C:\windows\system and run setup

Deleting windows is the best choice :)

Sorry but I already fixed the problem. I seem that the CPU was the culprit. Swapped it out and the trouble disappeared.
