MSN send/recieving disconnects internet

By Jake Bartlett ·
I have a Dlink DSL-504 ADSL router, and am connected with a 1536/256 adsl internet service.

Whenever I try to send a file, or click accept to recieve a file, via MSN 7.5 (older versions too), my internet disconnects. I have to physically pull out and replace the router's power plug to get my internet back.

I have tried opening countless ports for voice communication, file transferring, and general MSN ports, to no avail. Does anybody know how I can get file transfers to work on MSN?

Hello Jack it seems your router firewall stops your connection. Maybe you can disable your modem's firewall service and try to the net without firewall. If you success you can open other firewall services one by one and monitor it's behaviour. So as a first try the download with a different simple modem maybe USB one for seperate the problem source. Does it related to your modem or computer?
Good luck

there appears to be a bug with that router and MSN Msgr 6 so maybe a firmware update for your dsl-504 may do the trick for you...

MSN 9 has upgrades after installing. If you do not upgrade, then you have to deal with problems like this. I say upgrade now and see if it corrects the issue.
