msoobe.exe application error

Hi, sure hope you can help me out.

On starting the computer (Dell with XP Home and 512 RAM) get “msoobe.exe application error. Instructions at…….memory at…. could not be read.” I can then get into the computer seemingly OK. However…

When I go into aol and try to get on the internet, also get a memory error and am closed out of aol. If I go on to aol and then use Internet Explorer, I can access the www.

Any ideas what might be going on/how I can fix this annoyance??
