msvc32i mfc error messages

Have a Compaq desktop, 1,2 ghz, 256 ram 40 gig harddrive, running windows XP. At every boot have a error message come saying ‘msvc32i mfc application error’ must now shut down. This seems to also effect with internet explorer and will shutdown as well. Cannot use that desktop to source this problem as iE shutsdown after you move off the home page. Any ideas.
