MTS/COM+ proxy stubs and DCOM…

by dsmith . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

Hi,

Just wondering if anybody knows if MTS/COM+ proxy stubs have to be installed to utilize the full capacity of MTS/COM+ scalability/Clustering etc or can a remote COM (DCOM) connection be establised with the same results.

Basically developing DP architecture and don’t want to have to install proxy stubs on each client as part of an install, instead just specify a server name.

Tried it, and it works, component services recognises the connection, but is a true MTS/COM+ connection?Had a look in a number of books, none mention doing this way, they only talk about installing proxy stubs.

Thanks,

David.
