Multi-Boot Without Rebooting

By vectorjam ·
i would like to know if there is a way to multi-boot a computer with only three windows xp systems in such a way as to select which system you can log into without rebooting the pc. say for instance that i am in system 1 and i want to log out and log into system two or three. does this sound like sharing a partition? can you do this with identical systems? can i use a certain software to do this? i want to effectively have a multi-boot pc with only windows xp which can switch systems without the reboot. any comments?

"Virtual Machine" software

Look into VMWare, MS Virtual Machine, or other "virtual machine" applications. I'm sure there are similar apps for Linux. Be prepared to upgrade your RAM and hard drive.

change system files without the virtual software?

by vectorjam In reply to "Virtual Machine" softwar ...

that is not what i meant. i don't want a virtual system. i use that now. i want to log into windows and choose which system files load by which log in i use. could this be done with login scripts that change all the appropriate system file directories and then reload the new ones?
