My company has a main exchange server that resides on a standalone server (i.e. it’s not a PDC or a BDC).
I built a test lab that resides in another domain and I installed Exchange server on the PDC.
Two way trusts between the domains have been established.
In the test domain are several software packages that can successfully email to the exchange server on the test domain’s PDC. This was the first stage test and I’m glad it works.
The next phase hasn’t gone so well. I need the emails being sent from the test domain to reach a distribution list on the main domain. I haven’t been able to successfully get the two exchange servers to really talk to each other. Because the exchange server on the main domain is not on a PDC or a BDC I cannot remotely manage it. (If this is wrong, please tell me). However, I can administer the test exchange server from the main one. (I assume because it is on a PDC)
I thought I should install a site connector, but I can’t make it install from either direction. From test to main the error message says the main doesn’t respond, and from main to test the error message related to the Site name.
Can someone please summarize what my configuration/installation options should be in order to get these two exchange servers to successfully send and receive mail to each other?
