Multi Homed Laptop

By madroxxx ·
I have a user(windows 2000 Pro) that needs to connect to our network(dhcp) and another (non-dhcp) network. Is there any way to make it so he doesn't have to change the IP address himself? I tried setting up another hardware profile however any changes to IP address are visible throughout all profiles.

Couple of options

Simple one use netswitcher on
www.netswitcher.com

or use netsh from command prompt on win 2k

Here is what I did in our environment

Dump both the settings to a .txt file

netsh -c interface dump >homesettings.txt
netsh -c interface dump >worksettings.txt

and load them using -f option

netsh -f homesettings.txt or
netsh -f worksettings.txt

You can have a couple of shortcuts on the desktop to run the above commands.

Their was a similar answer from Norm of the above problem.
