Multicast solution, Cisco based environment

by bevan.daniel . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

I?m working on a network (Cisco based network) which has a star topology. There are eighteen 3560 access-layer switches connected to two core 3560G multilayer switches.

Plugged into one of the 18 switches is a client based server which is used for multicasting only.

The multicast server runs a piece of software called Agent-Link 2. The multicast server serves users on the LAN to display information via a data board. This data board is used for queuing; when calls are received it is displayed on the board.

I have a design at the present I?m working on but could anybody who has come across this type of design please shed some light as to what type alternative solution I may have to use.

The network is a switched based network with VLAN?s every where and EIGRP is the protocol of choice.

I have found it very interesting but could a multicast guru please spread some light on this for me.

My solution is cool but i’d love to exchange ideas with multicast like minded guru.

Regards

The Bevstar
