Multimedia projector and laptop

By excel_gid ·
One of my friend has a multimedia projector and a laptop either. Problem is that he can well attach this projector with the VGA port of his desktop, but is worried how to attach this with his laptop.

Provided the laptop has a 15 pin video port to plug in to you should be fine. You may need to togle the video output with the laptop a little. Most laptops require you to hold down the FN or function key and press F5 or F8 pressing once send video to the outside monitor or projector, the next time you press it will show on both and then the third time should send it back to the laptop display. depending on the laptop model you may be looking to togle the crt or display either way it should showa video symbol of some kind on the proper key and be in the same color as the FN or perhaps the Ctrl key. It shouldn't hurt to connect it at all if that worries your friend, as far as the laptop is concerned its just another monitor.

There should be a VGA port exactly like what's on his desktop, already on the laptop for a monitor connection. If there isn't he'll need to somehow procure a docking station (port replicator) that has one. A lot of the slimmer models, like Sony and some models of compaqs require these.

Good luck to you
