Multiple Default Monitors on a Laptop

By jcoltrin ·
I have noticed on several laptops I have set up (Dell & Micron) that in the Device Manager there are 4 Default Monitors listed. They also appear in the Display Settings. It reads: Display: (Multiple Monitors) on ATI Mobility M4 (english). Removing or uninstalling all 4 of the Default Monitors and then rebooting has no effect. One of the laptops is on a docking station (the Gateway) and the other is not (the Dell). No software has been installed except for MS's Novell Client and the Netbeui protocol.
Thanks in advance.

Multiple Default Monitors on a Laptop

I believe theses drives are there to support multiple monitor configurations.

The ability to display an image across more than one monitor.

It may also have to do with the ability to use an external monitor feed from the laptop to a desktop monitor.

I believe the first reason to be the most likley.
