I have a system using DFI’s AK70 MB with Athalon 800 mhz processor, 256 PC133 Ram, Nvidia TNT Rivera 32mb AGP card, Soundblaster Live 5.1 sound card. I was running Windows ME when I started having corrupted file errors on a new 20 gig Maxtor drive.I wiped and fdisk, reformatted drive. Reinstalled ME, made sure I got updated drivers for video and sound cards, and reinstalled AOL 7.0, my DSL software and Diablo II. As soon as I play Diablo online, I started locking up, and had to shut off the machine. CTRL ALT DEL didn’t get me out of the system. Reboot started bringing the “windows has found an error in registry, and will restart and fix”. Well, it didn’t fix it, just kept repeating the error message. I ran Norton Utilities and it came back with a misc one error rated high. Had it fix it. Then it tried to shut down and I get Fatal Exception: 0167:B00DC0D0. I’ve since tried installing ME and upgraded to XP, same crap starts happening. Wiped it, tried Me alone again, same thing. Wiped it, reformatted with a different Hard drive, loaded 98 SE, and same problems. Direct X is version 8.1, drivers are as current as I can find.
After one game play, I’ve had to either reinstall the video driver, Direct X, run diagonistics, run Norton Utilities, do a boot to a prompt and do the scanreg /fix … and nothing gives me a permanent solution.
The errors are getting intensive and varied. Realplay errors pop up. Winzip error says it’s in the wrong location and to reinstall. Fatal exception errors when I try to exit Windows, registry errors on boot up, the list goes on and on. I’m about at my wits end trying to troubleshoot this!
