Multiple Gateways 1 inside network

by erikk . Updated 17 years, 8 months ago

I currently run a Windows Server 2003 network with 1 IP connected with a PIX 501 firewall.

I currently added another internet connection to reduce the load on the line, and also accomodate for a redundant connection. This line is also connected via a PIX 501 firewall.

I have 2 cisco PIX 501 firewalls, each with a unique external IP, and 1 internal network. The VPN works fine on both, and when I port forward http (80) and 3389 (remote desktop) it works for awhile, but the connection seems to die after a few hours. I have to just unplug the port, plug it back it and then it seems to work again, but its not reliable at all. On the multihomed machines I have two network cards installed one going to the first 10.1.0.1, and one going to the second 10.1.0.2. If i do a route print it shows the routes are correct, although it always shows the default gateway as 10.1.0.1.

I have the new gateway setup on my workstation machine and it never goes down. It just seems I’m having issues with requests coming in.

Any ideas?

Thanks
