Multiple installations of XP

By Waldo2k3 ·
hello,
I got the blaster virus, but before I knew what I had I was trying to correct it. SO I foolishly disabled the rpc service. Needless to say, I made a mess. I couldnt get the service restarted so i started a repair installation, but that failed with fatal errors. SO I did a new xp installation on the same drive just renaming it to windows2. That helped somewhat but I still got a mess. How can I either repair the original or copy password protected accounts over to the new installation? And once I got a "good" installation, either original or new one, how do I uninstall the other?

hope thats clear...any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try running System Restore from the original XP install.

If you still can, boot into Safe Mode in the original XP install.

Then run System Restore and restore to a point in time before this whole mess happened.

Good luck

1. I don't think that you can repair the original instalation.
2. If you chose a new install, you must install all the programs again.
3. You can't copy the accounts.
So, why you don't save all data/files/documents on other HDD/partition and then make an WinXP install from scratch?
