Multiple NT user profiles

I am running windows 2000 Active Directory Domain with Windows NT clients (I know that’s raggedy). Every time I reboot the NT workstation it creates a new profile for the first person that logs on to the system after reboot. For example jdoe.001, jdoe.002, jdoe.003, and so on. Does anyone know how to correct this? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRICIATED.
