Multiple NT user profiles

By avery_m2000 ·
I am running windows 2000 Active Directory Domain with Windows NT clients (I know that's raggedy). Every time I reboot the NT workstation it creates a new profile for the first person that logs on to the system after reboot. For example jdoe.001, jdoe.002, jdoe.003, and so on. Does anyone know how to correct this? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRICIATED.

Multiple NT user profiles

Are you using roaming profiles? One cause of this behavior can be if the roaming profile is corrupted or if the user permissions aren't set up correctly so that the user doesn't have access to it. The workstation tries to download it and can't, so it creates a new local profile. This repeats itself over and over until and unless the roaming profile is fixed or removed from the user's account. Hope this helps!

I agree with synergy/dlo. Permissions to the profile are very important for access. Create a new Profile share on your server. Go to the user account properties and change the profile path to the new share. Make sure your users have read and change permissions to the path.

Avery's advice will probabily solve the problem. I also recommend KB121618.

Actually, I'm using local profiles. I'll check and see if any of you guys recommendations work any.
