Music and Portable Media Policy

By tomjhen ·
Has anyone developed policies for personal music files (i-Tunes or Windows Media Player etc.) on company PC's, or regarding the connection of personal portable media devices (USB Drives) to company PC's?

Thanks for your help!

Yes. We don't allow it.

Does that answer your question?

Sorry - was looking for source of example language and practice

I was hoping for possible example policy language and practice.

For example, do you allow employees to play CD's if the music is not captured to the local hard drive? Do you allow employees to attach personal USB drives to company PC's, and if not, is this inforced by policy only or by AD or some other software?

Thanks for your input!

And we allow personal USB keys and media to be plugged in. I actually have my MP3 player plugged in right now :)

We allow CDs, ripping, and usage of iTunes...

there is a big but here though, streaming at work, downloading music at work, and share music is a no no.

While we still allow Pandora (because not many people know about it), we block most streaming anything (youtube), and we block all peer to peer sites (because it's just easier and more politically correct).
