my disk gives wrong information

By k4k ·
I access Netware 4.11 from my WIn 95 machine.
when i check the disk usage of my Netware server from Win 95 machine .. it says 2TB of free disk space is free where i have only 20 GB HD on it.

Why do i get this wrong disk info & how do i rectify this problem ??

Well my dear friend. The problem is with win95 it doesnt support large disks i.e. 20GB,40 GB which is coming now a days. So you have to make a partition in the 20 GB hard disk (15 and 5) and then format it and reinstall the software it should show you the right info. Try to use win 98 SE than using win95. But if you are forced to do so then no problem you can still work on WIN95 but make a partition and reformat and install everything from scratch.

Or you can just ignore the file size problem and go from there, now that you know win 95 has problem seeing anthing over 2 GB at a time.

Jeez, don't these guys read the question? it says disk usage on a NETWARE server... Format, yeah, right.
OK, I calmed down.
But they do have a point: W95 is not good at counting. But not th?t bad: using a recent client (3.3 with patch) and a recent patch for your NWserver (9, I believe), you should see the correct figures. The only things W95 might have a problem with are the correct calculation if you use disk compression on your volumes (you might end up with a total > 100%), and the amount of used space in a directory. But on a volume (Networking Neighbourhood|Server|Volume-right click|Properties|NetWare Volume Statistics tab) you should get decent info.

By the way, you may find a freeware tool in www.netwarefiles.com that could suit your needs better than Explorer does.

Jim
