What type/model is the DVD player? Did it come with drivers or firmware? And did you install any DVD software that came with it? If you did, what?

I think you'll find you are facing a Software problem here as you need some form of DVD Software to view DVDs and that includes Sound on Movie DVD.

Now if you are not getting any sound off a recorded MP3 DVD that is a different story but to view movies you need software like Power DVD or Win DVD or something similar and then you'll have all the sound that you want as the sound files are not stored as conventional CD type sound files either MP3 or wav.

If you would like to repost the software that you are using to decode DVDs I think that an answer will be forthcoming.

No cables required except Power and data which you have connected.

Simply download the codec eg: windows media player classic.

Install and reboot the system.
