My Favorites won’t open

I have a windows 2000 machine that when I double click an internet favorite it opens my printer window and shows me the list of printers installed. I can open internet explorer and open my favorites from there but if I go through windows explorer or save a favorite on the desktop they send me to the printer window. I have used spybot and adaware and it has not fixed the problem. I do not have any search toolbars or anything like that. I have checked the properties of the shortcuts and they clearly point to a url on the web and not the printers window. Can someone help me with this?
