      How old is the unit?

It may just be something as simple as a Flat BIOS Battery that needs replacing. These are a coin battery and cost a few $ to buy new from a Chemist/Drug Store or Battery Supplier. They are typically a CR2032 Type Battery but the one in your computer may be different.

As these are a Metal Case Battery you need to unplug your Computer and make sure that the Capacitors are discharged by holding the On Button in for 30 seconds before you remove the battery. If you drop the battery onto the M’Board while there is any power there you are going to cause a Short Circuit and damage to the M’Board.

After the battery is replaced you need to enter the BIOS the first time you turn it on and set the Date & Time and then set the unit to Performance Defaults and save the changes as you exit the BIOS.

After that it will work OK. 😉

Tye removing all devices (except keyboard, monitor, mouse) see if you still have the issue.

if the issue stops then you know its one of the external deivces causing the hang.

If you still do then you may want to reflash you bios, change the bios battery, lookik for malfunctioning/bad components int he system

There is a sequence to the BIOS and where it stops will give you the clue as to where the fault lies. Eyes and EARS help to tell you whether things are proceeding properly. The CMOS battery will give you all kinds of strange and unrelated errors and it wouldn’t hurt to replace it if you haven’t done so in over a year. Pluggin cards can become intermittent and stop the POST.
