The setup.
I am running NT server w/ SP6a and IE5.
I have RAS configured w/ TCP/IP to dial into an local ISP.
My modem is a PowerCom 5634BTS 56K X2/V90.
The problem.
I start up my server box and log-in, but I do nothing else to the system.
After approx. 20 minutes the modem turns on and begins signaling.
It then sporadically makes my phone ring.
The phone is not connected through the modem, but is on the same line (ie. uses the same phone#/connection) as the modem.
Task Managerdoes not show any running processes that I can specifically attribute to the modem.
Logging off and logging back on does not stop the modem.
The only way I can kill the process is to restart my machine.
Hopefully, some good Samaritan among you will be able to help me solve this puzzle.
