My MP3 player will only work as a USB and not battery powered why is this?

When i unplug my MP3 from my computer it switches off immediatley even though it has full charge and is battery powered. I dont know why this is and really needsome help asap. Cheers, Becka.

But assuming that it's some sort of unit like the majority of MP3 Players the Battery is no longer making contact with the internals of the device. This doesn't mean that it can not be recharged just that the connection between the battery and the rest of the device is no more. So something like a Fusible Link has blown or something along those lines.

Of course if it's one of the type with a replaceable battery it's always possible that the battery is in the wrong way.

and it really does not matter how old the unit is, batteries can fail at any time, even if they are showing charged.

If the unit in question is new, contact the company that made it, it may be under warranty.
