i have a compaq computer 5000 series and my dad has an identicle compaq pc. he upgraded his computer to windows xp from windows ME. so i wanted to upgrade my windows ME to xp too. when i put the cd in it reads it and everything but after it copys all of the files then it restarts, thats when everything goes wrong. it gets to the black screen with the blinking line in the top left corner and the pc compleatly freezes but the line still blinks. and it will run windows 95 fine. i am 15 but i know alot about computers and i am going to school for computers. the computer is a compaq presario 5000 series with a 700mhz AMD duron processer and 312mb RAM and a 6 or 64mb vidoi card. the vidio card came with the pc but there is no vidio card on the mobo. my dad has a compaq presario 5000 series with 700mhz ADM duron processer and 64mb RAM and ether 6 or 64mb vidio card……………………………….
what do you think the problem is??? please help me i want my pc to work again…

i have another computer that i cleaned out all the fans and stuff now when i turn it on the screen doesnt display anything and i have another 1 that takes a sata hd but it says ntfsl{or something like that} file is missing. Can any1 please help me
