After I removed my CD-ROM, and installed a hard disk drive in its place, I rebooted my system and found I am without sound! Can someone help me?
My OS is Windows 2000 my motherboard is Tyan, S1854 Trinity 400. My sound card is Creative SB PCI 128 Ensoniq ES1371.
Device Manager says every device on my system is working. I am sure the Mute setting is set to Off, the volume is half way up, and my speakers are getting electricity. I have moved the sound card to another PCI slot, tried alternative speakers. Nothing has solved the problem.
There is one cable connected to an audio-in port. That cable comes from the video card that has audio-in from cable TV.
I replaced the driver for VIA, VT82C694X Apollo Pro 1394 chipset on my motherboard, and inspected the BIOS settings, and found nothing suspiciously disabled.
What should I do next? Refresh the CMOS is the only thing I haven?t done. Does anyone know of a software download I can use to determine if the sound card is working?
I feel like I am overlooking the obvious. What should I do? Does anyone have any ideas?
