My Windows 98 Second Edtion

By jalberti ·
I have bought a 4550Z Pavilian November 1999. Since I have had it, it always has given me the same problem. No one has yet solved it. My problems are: A fatel exception 0E has occured at 015F: BFFAA8CD. THE CURRENT APPLICATION WILL TERMINATE. Explorer says This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If problem persists, contact program vender. Explorer caused a general protection fault User.Exe at 000f: 0000 15 cc.
I do not like how Hewlett Packard packages there software, and the rescue disk is a very bad idea. It makes upgrading or purchasing a new operating system hard; because, the driver are on the recovery disk. Instead of being seperate. Bad engineering on HP behalf.
Could anyone give me any suggestions

I really appreciate any help.

Thank you,
John

RAM?

by kg70 In reply to My Windows 98 Second Edti ...

You might try taking the RAM out and reseating it. If this doesn't work try purchasing new RAM. HP may have technical support that you can dial. You can also copy the folder "WIN98" from your CD to your c: drive. You will then be able to run setup from c:\win98\setup.exe, if you copy the "WIN98" folder to the root of c: This folder will contain all of the *.cab files.
