MySQL and Pervasive SQL

By reference ·
I'm not much of a programmer, so please excuse my ignorance!
Can MySQL and Pervasive SQL talk to each other, in other words can I have information within a Pervasive SQL database be imported/exported into a MySQL database, and vise-versa?
The customer has a custom accounting program that utilizes Pervasive SQL for database. They would like to be able to have that information imported into a MySQL database that could be updated/changed, then imported back into the Pervasive SQL database. Is this possible? If so, is there any documentation that supports this, or resource for learning more?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

sure there is a possobilitie to transfer the data between the databases. But you have to do some tasks before you can transfer the data.
- check for DDF-Files in the Pervasive Data-Directory (if not there Create them. There are tools and documetation available at http://www.pervasive.com
- create the database and tables in MySQL
Documentation is available on http://www.mysql.org and newsgroups
- create ODBC-Datasources for the MySQL and Pervasive-Database
- link the tables from both sides to a MS-Access-Database
- you can transfer then the Data with Append- or Update-Queries
- Have a look on (maybe) different Data-Types

But some pointers:
- Is the Client soleley responsible for the data to be transferred? ___Accept only papers you can use in Court!___ (Watch for the IRS)
- The data will be transferred without any Validation.
- Establish a data-backup-routine before any data-transfer between the databases

I think you should warn yourcustomer.

Hey, sorry I took so long, I still haven't had time to test this, but my programmer says it might work for us, and since he's not going to be ready for a couple more weeks, I'm going to award the points and see how it goes. Thanks again.
