I'm not sure I understand the actual question here. Are you seeking to move the actual database to another server and need to modify the ODBC "MYSQL" or are you seeking to get rid of the ODBC connection itself? If you can clarify with a bit more detail I may be able to assist you.

Simply, if the connection name is MySQL, that's just a name. There are only a few configuration settings you have to work with, IP addres/SQL server name and the connection types: Normally Named Pipes or TCP/IP pipes.

You would probably have to load SQL ODBC drivers, these can be loaded from the SQL Server CD, client files directory. Or you may be able to get them from the MDAC_TYP.EXE file from Microsoft.

So, wehn you move to the NT4 server, all you'd have to do is load the standard SQL Client driver and copy the configuration settings on the ODBC DSN.

Well, MySQL is an SQL database engine that runs on Linux. It can of course be accessed using ODBC but in your case only you can tell if it is simply a connection named "mysql" or an actual connection to this type of database.

You can download the full NT ODBC setup program for free from;
http://www.mysql.com/Downloads/MyODBC/myodbc-2.50.36-nt.zip
Unzip and run the setup program and just specify the MySQL driver, the ip address of the machine or hostname that the database runs on and the port number (default is 3306) and an optional user name and password.

Also on http://www.mysql.com/ is a full binary download of the database software if you want to run it on NT - it takes about 10 minutes to have it up and running, there is also a GUI admin tool for download. All very easy to set-up,

Regards,

Andrew.
