MySQL Error

By lhatcher ·
We have a internal webserver running rhel 3. It connected to mysql on another server. We have upgraded server, the new one is also running rhel 3. We copied the page over to the new server, exact same code. Now when we hit the page, we get sql syntax errors. Nothing on the mysql server has changed, and we can still view the page normally on the old server. Anyone have any ideas?

First of all you might want to try posting this message to a Redhat Mailing list.

Here are couple of ideas:

You have said that you upgraded the MySQL server to RH EL 3. What was it before? It is possible that the same code will not run across the network, because of permissions issues on the new MySQL server. I would expect if this were the case you would be getting Access Denied error messages.

Can you post the first few errors that you are recieving, and an explanation as you see it? I think it has to do with a newer version of the MySQL server, and possibly the newer RedHat setup. It think that there is an mis compatibility issue and you will need to adjust your code.

I am sorry if I was unclear. We did not upgrade MySql, only the webserver. The same os on the new webserver as the old one, RHEL 3. Some pages will connect to the mysql server without problems, other pages get syntax error messages. I looked at the code, everything looks good.
