Mystery folder

By Hardware_Jinx ·
A new folder "0227b427f9f62f2ed7f6ae", with two sub-folders "amd64" and "i386", suddenly appeared in my PC.

I noticed this after installation of Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 & 3.0 SP2.

Is this folder virus or needed by the system?

I am running XP Pro SP3.

Temporary folder

by Mehul Bhai In reply to Mystery folder

It is a temporary folder created by microsoft installations while doing instllations including service packs. It is normally created in the root directory of the disk drive which has the most amount of free space in your system.
It is safe to delete the same if the installation is finished properly.
Normally it gets deleted after installation is complete but in some cases the same remains as it is after installtions.
