NAS ans USB system

By afaille ·
We are looking at interfacing with an analog to digital capture device that only has a USB port as an external output. It captures an image in JPEG, TIFF or PNG formats onto a directly attached USB flash drive that we then move physically to a computer.

Now if i could attach a USB storage device so that the analog converter can save the files on disk and then via a NAS port, use the network to have my computer read the saved image, that would save a lot of time and footsteps... any NAS-USB devices out there that will accept both connection at the same time?

I have been looking for the same!

I have been looking for the same and have not yet found it yet. I have found that many NAS devices do not allow the USB port to work simultaneously with the Ethernet. I want to use the USB port to connect to a DVD player while writing video files over the Network Port. On the alternative, it sounds like a USB "splitter" that allowed a disk to connect to two computers simultaneously , would work , even if one USB port connected to a Network Adapter. In fact I have been so disappointed as to the lack of existence of such devices , I posted it on my Blog. I was just scouring the web again however and found this page.

This device looks hopeful however I have not confirmed that USB and Network Ports are available at the same time. Also It looks like it requires some driver on a Windows PC , therefore it is not SMB networking apparently.
