NAS fro webserver content

By kenderkn ·
has anyone had any experience with using a NAS device to store webserver content?

i have a client who has 3 webservers and they want to keep the data synchronized between them. using a NAS device as a single point for their data would do this.

Backup and disaster recovery not withstanding has anyone had any real world experience witht he speed of the NAS device and the speed of the websites it would serve?

Your bigest restriction will be network bandwidth (e.g. 100mps) and the network traffic. So you need to work out how much traffic the website(s) are going to generate, and how big the sites are.

As for sharing the space between 3 servers this will not be a problem. Just configure a share on the NAS map the share to the servers and then configure IIS/Apache to that maped drive.
